The fabric is made from 100% certified organic cotton, without the use of chemical pesticides or fertilisers. From 2004 to 2021, VEJA has purchased around 1052 tons of organic cotton. The cotton is grown in Brazil and Peru by associations that respect people and the environment, according to fair trade principles. In Brazil, cotton is organic and agroecological, an agriculture that enriches the land once cultivated by enhancing crop diversity and water retention in the soil. In Peru, organic cotton producers are accompanied in their certification and receive technical and financial support to improve their production.
